John Macmillan

John Victor Macmillan, OBE, DD[1] (1877-1956[2]) was the fifth Bishop of Dover in the modern era[3][4] who was later translated to Guildford.[5] Born into a publishing family[6] and educated at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford, he began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at Farnham and was successively Resident Chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury, a Chaplain to the Forces during World War I, Vicar of Kew and then Archdeacon of Maidstone before his elevation to the episcopate.
